  21. Here's an update to this most perplexing problem.
  22.  
  23. The user's modem is a Practica; Periph PM288HC II V.34. An
  24. ATI command says [43R9] version 1.60. It's initialized to
  25. &F1.
  26.  
  27. The other modem is a USR Courier with the latest flash rom
  28. code just flashed in. It, too, was initialized with &F1.
  29.  
  30. Calling from the PP to the USR results in lots of noise but
  31. no result code from the modem.
  32.  
  33. The PP works fine calling other sites, modems unknown. The
  34. USRs work fine with other callers.

  36. Most perplexing.
